Dhammakranti retreat outdoor shrineEarlier this year the FWBO News reported on the Dhammakranti, or Dhamma Revolution, Retreat which was held in early January near Nagpur. The retreat was co-led by Dharmacari Subhuti and Dr Marshall Rosenberg, the founder of Non-violent Communication. We have just received these pictures of the retreat from Dharmacari Ratnaketu.

Cultures meet at the Dhammakranti retreatThe Dhammakranti retreat was a great success, with 3500 people attending from all over India, and the world, making it the largest retreat ever held by the FWBO/TBMSG. As well as Inida there were retreatants from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the UK, USA, Germany, Estonia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Outside the shrine-room after meditationDescribing the retreat Ratnaketu says, "a festive and very friendly atmosphere quickly developed; one could hardly take two steps without being Jai Bhimed! This is the greeting universally given by the followers of Dr Ambedkar in India. At night the fields filled with happy groups of friends singing devotional songs or chatting till midnight. Everywhere there were happy smiling faces and people keen to make new friends."

Close up of the main shrineRatnaketu ran a fund raising campaign to enable people from outlying areas to attend the retreat. Generous donations enabled nine people to attend the event from Kushinagar, Bodhgaya and Nepal. "Akash from Bodhgaya - says he will bring 100 people next year! It was fantastic to see them all making friends with people from TBMSG and having such an enjoyable time. "
